AltaRock Energy | Matt Uddenberg on CORE Knowledge Podcast

Episode Summary

Innovation is key in the quest to unlock the heat beneath our feet. AltaRock energy is working on a solution to accessing SHR (Super Hot Rock) which will enable more efficient geothermal fields and greater amounts of energy produced. Join me as Matt explains the major hurdles facing this type of development and how the team at AltaRock is working to unlock the heat beneath our feet.

Episode Notes

We continue our journey to bringing awareness to the heat beneath our feet in order to power the future with a very fascinating conversation with Matt Uddenberg, the Vice President of Operations. AltaRock is up to some amazing work and one thing in particular that we touch on in this episode is the ability to access SHR (Super Hot Rock) in order to increase our efficiencies with power generation. Being able to access temperatures in the 4-500 degree Celsius range is key in the advancement of Geothermal as a baseload energy source as it offers up to 5 times as much energy production per well. Increasing energy output thus increasing plant efficiencies is a crucial piece in bringing Geothermal down the cost curve.
